How is the dream of Candy's dog significant in ';Of Mice and Men'?

Plz answer asap? How is the dream of Candy's dog significant in ';Of Mice and Men'?
I'm doing that book too for gcse, it is significant because it shows the friendship between candy and his dog. Friendship was very rare in the 1920's and 30's because of the Depression. of mice and men concentrates mainly on the theme of loneliness, and most of the characters are lonely except george and lenny and candy when he has his dog. But candy soon becomes lonelier than the others because he loses his dog.

Candy only had his dog as his companion, but after his dog died, Candy was alone.
